Guest guest
I'm on the physician steering committee for this in Maine. The money is from the federal government.Having done the whole meaningful use process ourselves, my personal opinion is that the whole thing is a misguided waste of money. Like you, we already had the EMR so we put in the extra time and this paid for needed updates to our hardware. The software changes done by our EMR company to meet meaningful use are mostly useless. Attested last week. Had someone from Hi-tech pretty much do all the work for me. I use Soapware emr, have had it since 2004, so no new outlays necessary to get the MU $$$. My question: who is paying Hitech and the other companies that are going around trying to help docs get paid? I assume it is the govt, but is this really a wise way to spend money, especially when it could be better used for patient care? Guest guest
Assuming you attested for 2011 and that you reached your max Medicare allowable, you should see your check in 6-8 weeks. Ours took 8 weeks and was auto-deposited into our bank account, since that is how we get paid by Medicare. On another note, however, since changing to 5010, I have yet to see a Medicare payment. That is my project for this week. Because I want to close the bank account that our Medicare payments go to, I need to make sure they are going to pay us before we have yet another delay in payment from them! Guest guest
I have had the opposite experience. (I am very close to attesting). Guest guest
I attested starting in middle of September, completed requirements in the middle of December, followed the status on the CMS website and just received check today… All done through Practice Fusion….. NO payment to them as certified EMR…which is definitely one of the serious benefits of Practice Fusion…. Definitely can use the money toward practice expenses….. For me the process took a little over 6 weeks from finishing attestation to getting paid….. Was not paid through my Medicare carrier but another outsourced company….. Guest guest
The Northern Cal REC hired Meaningful Use consultant is not helpful at all. First he told me I couldn't attest for 2012 until 2013, then he appologized for giving wrong information. He knows nothing about my EHR Practice Fusion, and wanted me to show him. He couldn't even make the speaker work when we listen to Practice Fusion's self learning video. I think he is just happy this government fund gives him a job. What a waste. Guest guest
Hi , It is Lumetra Healthcare Solutions. With Practice Fusion, it is quite self explanatory. I can click on the video for each requirement and learn. I didn't see that many Medicare patients last year, so I plan to attest this year. Was hoping to get some insight and save me some time. So far not yet. I know I can figure it out. It takes time. I just felt the consultant should know what they are consulting on. This person told me he created an account with Practice Fusion, cuz it is free. But he didn't practice before the 2nd time he came to my office. I was told there was 14 hours per provider for Stage 1 with CALHIPSO. Before I realized, a few hours are gone. And I didn't get any help yet. If more of this is happening, the government money is wasted. My 1 cent. Thanks . Wen Wen, Which REC was assigned to you? Guest guest
Thanks, Sangeetha. I am going to register and try to attest later this year. Wen PF WenSangeetha Sangeetha, Which EHR do you use? you can email me on or off -list. Thanks, Wen I know someone encouraged us to check them out etc etc. I figured I didnt have enough time to get them upto speed and these outfits existed more for the completely computerless offices ( there are quite a few of these around- a colleague hadnt even HEARD of meaningful use) rather than for offices like ours. Sangeetha The Northern Cal REC hired Meaningful Use consultant is not helpful at all. I was hoping to get some help and save my time, now back on my own. Wen I attested starting in middle of September, completed requirements in the middle of December, followed the status on the CMS website and just received check today… All done through Practice Fusion….. I HAD been told I would be paid in JAn then I got a call. They pay once a mo around the 20th of the month. I posted earlier about mix upsMy emr support people did 95% of what I needed. If I ever see the money they get chocolate.I could not have done it without them My REC only cared about selling me an EMR from their vendor lots of unevenesss across the country as we hear from folks. I hear RI and VT were helpful to their docs the EHR program folks a re not gov't employees themsleves They are contracted to run the program Jean Assuming you attested for 2011 and that you reached your max Medicare allowable, you should see your check in 6-8 weeks. Pratt Attested last week.Had someone from Hi-tech pretty much do all the work for me.I use Soapware emr, have had it since 2004, so no new outlays necessary to get the MU $$$.My question: who is paying Hitech and the other companies that are going around trying to help docs get paid? I assume it is the govt, but is this really a wise way to spend money, especially when it could be better used for patient care?Stevestown, NJ -- MD ph fax
