Guest guest
Hi, Just catching up on some past postings and I came across this one re: trouble swallowing. Oddly enough, I myself have been having ongoing pain and pressure and the feeling of food/liquid being " stuck. " I had an endoscopy done some years back and was told it was gerd. Recently I was diagnosed with " Achalasia " which I am due to have surgery for this Wednesday. From what I am reading, as I educate myself on this, it can be related to auto-immune disorders and I have had RA for 16 years now. It seems that the condition I have causes my lower esophogus not to open properly and so the food will not go down unless it is pushed down (for me this means tons of luke-warm water). Because of this, my lower esophogus has enlarged 3x the size and food can back up there. Has anyone here been diagnosed with this condition at all or had these problems? I am curious as to whether or not it is related to my RA. Thanks!
