Guest guest
Just noticing a few, thought I'd share them :-) People shouldn't use facebook to promote their businesses Facebook is a waste of time (It's not - I can see that it brings up stressful thoughts for me, so it isn't a waste of time) Facebook shouldn't be a waste of time (It should be, that's what it's there for - messing about, which isn't a waste of time) People shouldn't use facebook to promote their businesses True? I thought so Absolutely? No How do I react? I get irritated, tense, annoyed, I feel abused (Belief: They are abusing my friendship) I'm in their business, I'm in facebook's business. I'm reminded of how I used to be with my friends, always pushing my latest " business " in their faces. Who would I be without this thought? Out of their business - not seeking to control how they use facebook, back in my own business. I'd be ignoring messages that are promoting their latest blog entry or teleclass. I'd appreciate that they are showing me who I am really friends with, who I am really interested in hearing from, in knowing what they are doing. Turnarounds: People should use facebook to promote their businesses Yes, this is truer, this is reality, some people use facebook as a tool for increasing interest in their business. Why is this better for them, me, everyone? Well, it becomes pretty clear that if I want to receive updates on their business, remain friends in Facebook - if I don't, cancel the facebook friendship. I shouldn't use Facebook to promote me / my business. Yes, this is truer - I can think of times that I've posted status messages because I've wanted to let people know I'm doing something, let them know I'm doing something in a self-promotional way - " I'm going out to..... tonight " - making myself special, or posted a message because I've wanted people to know that I like something, not simply out of sharing. Enough for now. Jon
