Guest guest
it is important to remember not all docs have the same " professional opinions " on topics. Not everything in science is " cut and dried " and new information comes out often. Not all docs get new information as quickly as others, some docs have so much personal experience with things whether or not research yet backs up their personal experiences. SOme docs take patient decisions into their own hands and some do not always relay EVERY risk on a topic.etc. Not that long ago patients did not have information available to them and not long ago patients were passive members of their own healthcare team, willingly accepting their docs word as law. Not all patients want to know all the options or risks and prefer to continue to just accept their docs opinion 100% but some patients prefer to also do their own research and discuss things with their docs. SOme docs welcome this, some docs expect this and some docs do not like it. Some people have more choices for a doc than others, too. THere are controversies over nearly anything you can imagine. DOctors do have differences of opinions. DOctors are human and each can interpret data their own way. Soometimes doctors notice things before studies back them up. SOmetimes doctors prefer to take calculated risks with things. The more knowledge you have the more power you have in making informed choices. Although if you wish to research, be sure to use reputable sources and many sources- and then discuss what you do find with your doctor. What you find on your own should be used to open communication with your doctor. I never meant to imply the information you find should make you make medical decisions entirely on your own.
