Guest guest
What is she saying? Bad doctor...bad business practice....I would treat them differently. Bad business practice, you can (and should be able to ) defend why you do things certain ways. If she is bashing you, saying you are a bad dr, I would confront her and ask her to stop. If she has no evidence, and it doesn't stop, I would report her for slander. Pratt Any thoughts on this situation....local long time community physician is bashing me....not just to colleagues but also to my employee (her patient) and now to some of my patient s that she saw while working a urgent care shift. This has been ongoing and consistent for the past 2 years. Do I ignore or give her a friendly call/email?? Guest guest
That is known as " jousting " and is actually illegal, It is slander to say something about another professional. If there is a grip, it can be made to DORA, not to patients. I would suggest a phone call to find out if there is a way you can work it out, and if not, send her a letter requesting that she stop or you will contact a lawyer. ________________________________________ From: [ ] On Behalf Of Pratt [kpratt.1022@...] Sent: Thursday, February 09, 2012 8:14 AM To: Subject: Re: Physician Bashing What is she saying? Guest guest
Goodness, Dannielle! Sorry to hear you are in this situation. Maybe a face-to-face meeting would be helpful – friendly, and over lunch (but not in a large, quiet place where she could publically and loudly bash you to your face, if she intends to). Good luck, and let us know how it goes. Guest guest
Coming from someone who is not good with face-to-face confrontation, I would probably do it in letter form. And again, it depends on what she is saying. But to summarize, “My patients keep telling me that you say derogatory things about me to them. This is slander and illegal. I am requesting you stop this behavior immediately or I will be forced to take legal action.” Quite probably, just hearing that things are getting back to you should shut her up. Guest guest
If you want to tell us what you heard, we can probably be more specific, but I definitely agree that you should contact her in some way. I wouldn't threaten legal action in any way until you've had a friendly (from your side) chat or email or such to just get the lay of the land. You could couch it as " it sounds like we have very different practice styles; let's learn about each other's because I bet patients that are a good fit for you aren't for me and vice versa, so we should be able to refer to each other. Guest guest
You might want to talk to a lawyer about this. 2 years is a long time for this to go on. It is possible that a face to face meeting could go very badly. A nice letter from a lawyer usually really shuts people up. Often a single letter costs about $100, $200 tops. Your reputation is valuable and worth defending. Larry Lindeman MDRoscoe Village Family Medicine2255 W. Guest guest
Dear e. I think your patients and people that know you, wont care about that unprofessional behavior. When you know and care for somebody, you can tell what they are capable of. I would leave it alone, this remind me when I was in high school playing basketball. I was in front of the are to make a point ( the basket) and people were shouting at me different instructions. I tuned them out and I did my shot. This also reminds me, what Don Quixote told his friend Sancho: The dogs barks Dear Sancho that means that we are advancing ( sorry my translation is not the best). anyway my cent, adolfo To: Sent: Thursday, February 9, 2012 3:48 PMSubject: Re: Physician Bashing If you want to tell us what you heard, we can probably be more specific, but I definitely agree that you should contact her in some way.
