Guest guest
Hi Eileen, The Temovate ( Clobetasol) didn't burn me at first. But after about a week I was getting worse and worse. If only I had listened to my body and not that idiot doctor. I plan on suing him for malpractice. I told him my skin felt on fire and turning purple. He told me to apply more. I protested and said that I was having an allergic reaction. He told me to LATHER it on. STEROIDS ARE NEVER SUPPOSED TO BE LATHERED ON ANYWHERE ON THE BODY. It turned out that a simple culture would have turned up yeast. Instead of doing a culture he did a biopsy with stitches. So now I had a burn, infection and stitches, when a simple antifungal would have cured me. 18 months later I am still in pain and am slowly recovering from the nerve damage. My current vulvar specialist cringed when I told him about lathering on Temovate. He said that would be enough to start vulvodynia. So if your skin starts to hurt worse or gets redder, listen to your body and stop using it. Good luck. I just don't want you to make the same mistake I did. It has ruined my life and I am slowly getting it back together. Sandi

Did you have a bad > discharge from the yeast infection? Let me know. Hi Eileen, No, he did not do a culture. He went right ahead and prescribed Temovate and did a biopsy with stitches! The biopsy came back filled with hyphae, structures of yeast. I had a white stringy discharge, no odor, and not the typical cottage cheese like discharge. Please be aware that corticosteroids feed yeast, they are even more powerful than antibiotics in triggering yeast. I did not have vulvodynia bafore I saw this guy. I was totally pain free. Now I have had 18 months of hell and I attribute it to the Temovate burn. The burn caused the yeast to get out of control. I switched docxtors and the new one prescribed 3 weeks of topical Terazol. THIS IS ALSO A NO NO! INSIST ON ORAL ANTIFUNGALS. The 3 weeks of Terazol severely injured my already burnt skin. I ended up in the hospital for 4 days on IV Diflucan and Flagyl. Then I got a resistant strain of yeast that cultured out, Canida Krusei. It took over 7 months of treatment to get rid of the yeast but the nerve damage is what I am left to deal with. Be careful please. All this could have been so easily avoided if I had followed my instincts. I don't have any of the other associated conditions like IC, fibro, migrains, TMJ, Chronic Fatigue,IBS, and I have only had a few yeast infections prior to this nightmare. I have always been super healthy. Please, email me if I can help further and keep us all posted on your progress. By the way, I am 33 and live in CT. I finally found a great doctor in Hartford. Fondly, Sandi
