A simple friend vs a real friend

Just received this from a " friend " , who I would now classify as a simple friend

since I do not match all the qualifications set forth to be a true friend. (For

example, we have never discussed our romantic past, nor is my shoulder wet from

his tears.)

But I look at it this way, better to have even simple friends than none at all.

1. A simple friend has never seen you cry. A real friend has shoulders soggy

from your tears.

2. A simple friend doesn't know your parents' first names. A real friend has

their phone numbers in their address book.

3. A simple friend brings a bottle of wine to your party. A real friend comes

early to help you cook and stays late to help you clean.

4. A simple friend hates it when you call after they have gone to bed. A real

friend asks you why you took so long to call.

5. A simple friend seeks to talk with you about your problems. A real friend

seeks to help you with your problems.

6. A simple friend wonders about your romantic history. A real friend could

blackmail you with it.

7. A simple friend, when visiting, acts like a guest. A real friend opens your

refrigerator and helps themselves.

8. A simple friend thinks the friendship is over when you HAVE an argument. A

real friend calls you after you had have had a fight.

9. A simple friend expects you to always be there for them. A real friend

expects to always be there for you!

10. A simple friend reads this e-mail and deletes it. A real friend passes it on

and sends it back to you!

I don't know about you....but there is room in my life for both simple and real

friends....in fact, let's change that to simply friends!
