Guest guest
, what exactly do you mean when you say you're " doing fine " on Lopressor... You're an old hand at this AF business, and my understanding is that a lot of people who take meds are STILL in AF much of the time, but the ventricular rate is controlled. I have to confess that another thing that makes me hesitant about the step to the beta blockes, etc. is the impression I have gotten that these meds simple make the episodes more bearable. And if that comes with side effects ALL the time, what's the point. I can function fairly well in AF, not much energy, etc., but that part isn't too bad. If I'm occupied at something that doesn't wipe me out too bad, I could live with it, in fact, at times have to check pulse to be sure I have it. And that in itself seems almost invariably to set off a few skipped beats! On the other hand, trying to go to sleep in full AF is at times a real misery! Extreme restless legs, anxiety. Add to that - the bathroom trips every half hour or so. And there's another point. The increased kidney traffic is, I am told, in response to sensors in the heart telling the kidneys there is too much liquid, so the spare shift goes into action. Now, does the dumping of whatever somehow get rid of some of the causal factors. I seem to find I feel better after a session that has had a serious Big P effect! What do you think?
