I'm not noticing a whole lot of relief, if any. The neurontin itself doesn't cause me any side-effect problems, with the exception of when you first start. I got a day of dreamy, spacey, sleepy nap time--which was ok with me, because I was finding it hard to get any sleep because of the excruciating nature of the burning. And then, after that one day--I was fine, in that respect. According to the literature, the side effects as you move up in dosage should never be worse than the side effects from the starting dose. This has been my experience. My Doc sent me an incredibly informative article on the use of neurontin--other wholistic Docs are using it to treat many chronic pain syndromes and environmental illness problems...also for people with many allergies... and find it safe and effective up to 6400mgs over a day...reading on the chronic pain forum message boards...some people get relief on 300mgs a day...others go higher...and the key thing seems to be stick with it for a month or two, increasing the levels to see the benefits. Also the article talked about it's " healing effect " on damaged nerves (from EI, candida etc.) and that most patients are able to titrate off completely after two years. I hope and pray. Hope this is of some help to you. Ann My only other med course at the moment is lamisil and diflucan every day and the sugar/yeast free diet...and possibly back to nizoral...again...hoping and praying some combination works for this... And one more thing...I did read somewhere that you can combine elavil and neurontin...ask your Doc...

It could lead to seizures if you stop abruptly. The dosage has to be carefully tapered up and down. I am currently on 50 mg of Elavil and am feeling 75% better but am not sure what is responsible for this relief. I also take 250 mg of Depakote, an antiseizure drug. I was on 900 mg of neurontin but that did nothing for me. I think biofeedback has helped me the most. Good luck, Sandi
