Guest guest
Does anyone know of any prolonged flushing reaction to Niacin? Patient who normally was taking 500 mg of Niacin twice a day experiencing mild flushing. The other day he accidentally took 2500 mg of Niacin at one sitting (he had been buying 100m g tabs and building up and bought a 500 mg tab. Legs turned red within the hour but then his forearms and back flushed and today he is still red. Blanching macular rash that felt like a sunburn to him but very itchy, especially on back. I couldn’t find anything on Google other than there is apparently a saturation point that starts the flushing and once that is reached, the flush gets less or something like that. But usually flush is reported as minutes to sometimes hours but I couldn’t find anything about days. However he took 5 times the dose of his “saturation” point apparently.
