My Mission Of Friendship

I've decided to begin a mission today,

And I'll be stopping by your home,

To visit all those with heavy hearts,

Who face life's trials alone.

I'll begin by opening up your heart,

To repair the hurt lay buried within,

Past days that have brought you tumbling down,

Present days when your hope grows dim.

Sad memories and pain from days long past,

I will collect and add to my own,

We will sit and dry each others tears,

There'll be no need to cry alone.

We can hold on tight to each others hand,

Burning all thoughts of past harm done,

And when the air is cleared from darkened smoke,

We will enjoy the healing that's begun.

For it is us alone who can rid ourselves,

Of the burden that weighs us down,

No one else can lighten our hearts,

It's our choice to swim or drown.

Do not be afraid to let me come in,

We will sit and chat for today,

And when I leave we'll exchange a smile,

Then I'll continue on my way.

And so it is I've chosen your house,

To knock softly upon the door,

You'll see me there with outstretched arms,

We'll be friends forevermore.
