Guest guest
Have you installed and run something like Malwarebytes... there are a few good malware programs out there for free, or at least free for a trial period. Sometimes need to run more than one of them to find the culprit... assuming it is surreptitiously installed malware.Do disable/exit all your non-essential running programs like skype, any auto-updaters (Dragon has one, HP installs them..usually listed in the in the lower right hand corner of the screen- varies a bit in xp vs win7 but still in that area). If disabling those help, then add one back in at a time until you experience the problem again. Guest guest
According to AV-comparatives.org (an independent objective assessor of antivirus programs), this year’s clear winner amongst computer anti-virus products is Kaspersky labs.  Kaspersky’s website gives some details on their various product offerings (they have at least 4), but I wouldn’t recommend buying there unless you like paying full retail. On Amazon my 3-user copy of Kaspersky PURE cost about $28, which  may not be free, but I think it’s a bargain and sometimes with ‘free’ you later find out you got what you paid for. Pros: fast/lightweight, easy to use (you can configure it as much as you like or admit that you’re not a security expert and let it do the configuring for you).  Cons: haven’t found any yet. I installed it yesterday (it replaced G-Data Internet Security, which was ranked higher by AV-comparatives in the past, but is slower than Kaspersky and not as easy to use.)  I’m definitely a satisfied customer. Guest guest
I believe every virus protection company has won first place somewhere if you look around. I use Webroot and darned if they didn’t win first place. Makes you wonder about these reviews. Anyway, Webroot takes less space on the hard disk and (for now) runs faster – so they claim. Their approach is novel for the moment since they manage most things remotely. My guess is others will be quick to follow their lead. Next year or the year after I’ll probably run Kaspersky since over the last month I’ve been buying them at Staples (3 PC pack for $9.95) on a rebate program. It seem these virus programs never go stale on the shelf since whenever you load them they update to the latest version and nothing is lost to advancing technology. I loaded a copy of Norton last month (which I don’t recommend) that had been bought years ago on a free/rebate deal.  No problem getting updated to latest version at no cost. Most companies try to put a first copy in your hands for close to nothing in hopes you will continue to subscribe next year, year after, … Just watch for the routine offers and stack them on the shelf.
