Ronnie:

I agree with Greg somewhat - your physician should guide you in this

decision. However, I was away for several weeks in another Country - and

was worried about the PT test. My EP doctor was not so concerned about the

test, but was *absolutely adamant* that I stay with Coumadin. Please note

that I have been in NSR for almost 10 months with no signs of AFib. He says

one never knows and he was surprised that I would even think about taking

nothing or even aspirin. The risk involved was too great to fool around!

Keep in mind - I'm 68 yrs old!

Again, I strongly suggest you check with your doctor - but if you want my

$.01 - Stay with Coumadin - why worry about the alternative! And enjoy

Maine - it's a awesome State.

Ronnie,

Clearly this is a question for your cardiologist. My two cents would

be that if you you are currently in sinus rhythm, only suffer

paroxysmal a/fib occasionally, when you go into a/fib you revert to

sinus rhythm within 24 hours and you otherwise are not a candidate

for a stroke, aspirin should be fine.

This is a difficult one. It makes me think of a saying we have in the UK.

Buy in Haste repent in Leisure.

You have to take into consideration how fast your heart goes when you in

AF, if slow around 90bpm then you may be safe.

Around 120 upwards take the Wafarin.

You mention that your going on Holiday, this to me, would indicate extra

food, drink, exercise, stress(even though this will be enjoyable stress).

Then I would take the wafarin.

Lastly the effect of a Stroke can be forever no matter how mild or serious.

I would plumb for the warfarin.

This is not the answer your looking for but you did ask.

Hope the holiday goes well.

Take care

I would like to go off coumiden the 10 days I am on vacation and

just take

an aspirin a day- then go back on coumiden when I return.

What do you guys think??

I just don't want to have to deal with the coumiden- the INR- worry

about

what I eat- have wine if I like, etc.....

I am young and otherwise heatlhy and in NSR.

Opinions and thoughts very welcomed...
