Guest guest
Dear Matt from the trenches of Western PA. I love your way of given the advise . I do not have your experience but I did think that it was me the one writing it. We have in my home country ( Nicaragua in Central America) a saying: El que paga la musica es el dueno de la fiesta ( Who pays the music band is the owner of the party). I think freedom is not free, you do not want cold hearted adminstrators pushing you around then get your own gig. It is not easy because you have to wears so many hats. I was joking with a patient of mine that she has a janitor/doctor while I was empting a trash can. I am a family Doc, and I tried to get sub lease with specialist but some of them wants to pay their whole rent with my payment. I went to a GI and they were charging me 1600 dollars a month for 2 days a week. I went ahead and got my own little Tinglado ( Nicaraguan slang for small shop) and I pay 1000 dollars for an entire month. I do not pay CAM ( common area mantinance). I am working Monday,Wednesday and Friday for now. I have 1000sqf which equals 3 good exam rooms with water sinks and storoge cabinets, waiting area and small office for me and my wife. we are two providers my wife a Pediatric NP and I the family Doc. I do Urgent care on the side, I have to drive 80 miles round trip whenever I work. I work hourly for that company. I live a modest life so I do not have a million dollar house with marble floors so I think I have potential. I changed the numbers so the banker was happy despite that I was been honest to them telling that I was gonna be slow at the beggining. I got the loan from Bank of America whick is a pain they way they work the loan. I have been playing the lotto with no luck I am stuck with the bank, jejejeje I tried to buy used medical equipment and I contacted another doctor that was closing his shop. he wanted to sell me all his office used stuff like it was new, despite the fact that I wanted to buy his exam tables only. when he realized that I was not gonna pay brand new for used he told me it was headache. I got upset and I felt he was playing for my needs so I went ahead and bought my exam tables brand new. I checked craig list for them and they did not have close places and the ones that they had were in really bad shape ( with tears on the corners and rusted legs and paint). Now time to look at Lou's musings. Matt Re: Don't jump. Take the right steps at the right time for you. So I hope I can say a few things that will help-it looks like I started a conversation going here. I had a funny thought that if I did not post anything else it would be like starting a bar fight and walking out the back door.I will post a few more things tonight, but first it's almost dinner and I need to get a beer.
