Isn't that the truth?! I would often make a meal out of baked potatoes - and

feel smug about it because of the " healthy complex carbohydrates. " There's a

quarter cup of sugar in one medium potato. Egad!

We went to our son's graduation dinner last night. (he just finished his third

year of residency.) The meal was tossed salad, veal marsala, white dinner rolls,

boiled new potatoes, and cooked carrots. Now, you know I don't count carbs, but

WHTIE rolls, potatoes, and carrots in the same meal! Not even *I* will eat that

kind of meal. Let alone all the pies and cakes they had for dessert. I ate the

salad, veal, and part of the potatoes, then had the waitress take the plate away

and bring me some coffee. My son, the new doctor, sat there and grinned at me.

Evidently, for the patients he saw during his residency, there would have been

no question -- they would have eaten the entire meal, never questioning it. He

said with those patients, it's not a question of whether to eat potatoes AND

carrots, but whether or not they should eat ice cream on their pie. Damn!

And that's the difference between informed and not informed. It's funny

how some folks will always go to have the symptom treated, but never

give a darn about what is causing it, or want to learn about it. It has

to be frustrating for the new Doc! Especially with a Mom who is showing

him how it should be! :)

Teri, I haven't gotten anything from " eggymail " or whatever it was so maybe

the above is true. Certainly I didn't see anything that would have prompted

your response. Vicki

I truly gave it much thought before sitting down to write this email. Let

me note right now that I am copying this to the Diabetes International List.

All of this goes back to a comment I made about the menu at our son's

graduation dinner and the comments he made about his patients not being

careful about what they ate.

My first reaction to your email is that it was spam resulting from your

having gotten my email address from the list. That is still my reaction. If

my impression is wrong, you are free to correct me, but my impression at

this point is that:

a) you are not diabetic

B) you may well be on this list only to promote the products you distribute

I went to http://www.gourdin.com and was not impressed. As with so many

products that are promoted to diabetics, I can't help but feel that if this

product were the miracle it is proclaimed to be, we would already know about

it.

Since you joined the mailing list, have you posted and taken part in the

discussions? How many others on the list have you emailed?

Thanks, Vicki. I checked the messages database, and he or she has never posted

to the group either.
