Guest guest
The prices you have been quoting of the so-called " cheap " ones are MORE than what we pay for e-MDs. Pratt I know e-MDs well. I have seen it several times. I know the big names, e-MDs, eClinicalworks, etc. I'm just excited to look at the new cloudbased offerings that are out there, especially if they're CHEAP. Practice Fusion is next for me. > > Greg, > Please take a look at e-MDs. It is not more than any other programs that > you have looked at. Guest guest
,We are very happy with e-MDs. While not cheap, it is affordable. There are pre-loaded templates, macros, and you can change/create your own templates " on the fly. " . There is a robust lab tracking system to make sure that patients are doing what they are supposed to, and " rules " that you can set that will put a reminder in the patient chart for preventive exams, labs for chronic conditions, etc. It has the option of secure email or a Patient Portal (which allows for online scheduling for patients with a Portal account and you still can control how many from zero to all of your appointments that you want to allow to be scheduled online). It has many other features, but these are the ones you specifically pointed out below. No financial interest, just happy customers for 7 years... Pratt Greg and others, I'm starting to look at EMR options for a project here. We're adding a direct practice to our mostly traditional small group practice. We already have eclinicalworks which is adequate but, in my opinion, neither inexpensive nor efficient. Since I'll need a separate database for the new practice anyway, this is a good time to consider more effective EMRs. Cloud computing won't save any costs since we already have recently updated servers, backup hardware, etc. EMR billing will be less of a consideration since we won't be dealing with third parties except to print an occasional 1500 but an employee will need to track monthly membership payments and visit copays. Meaningful Use isn't an issue for a direct practice. My priorities are physician efficiency in the exam room , efficient communications including a portal and live, online scheduling, and some tools for creating Boolean rules to help track recommended interventions based on age, meds, diagnoses, etc. Given that, what EMRs should I be investigating besides Amazing Charts? Guest guest
If AC works well on the desktop, I would buy a new laptop (from Costco with a 90 day return policy) and see how it works on that. Spending 7-800 dollars on a new laptop would be worth the cost to me compared to switching EMRs. To: " " < > Sent: Sunday, April 1, 2012 12:37 PM Subject: Re: Software Reviews I had been a happy AC (Amazing Charts) user until this past December or January when I started encountering an absolutely intolerable number of bugs on the laptop that connects to my desktop where the database resides. Essentially it frequently crashes (due to various unhandled exceptions) whenever I am printing instructions, writing orders, or eprescribing (all use crystal reports). I (or my nurse) have spent ungodly number of hours getting remote help from AC (though often frustratingly delayed) and working with my tech guy who specializes in medical IT and has other clients with AC -- AC is at a loss, and my IT guy has thoroughly checked things out and does not think it's a network, hardware, or conflicting software issue (he's a second opinion, after I had a falling out with my prior IT guy, who also didn't seem as competent as my current guy). I am finally about ready to throw in the towel and transfer to a new EMR, as my tech guy says he has other AC clients with similar bugginess. Seems to have occurred with V6 MU upgrade? Very very frustrating because I like AC otherwise, and I love the price. I'm hobbling along now by running program repairs whenever it crashes, but needless to say, it interrupts patient work flow (I often hop back over to my admin desktop to finish seeing the patient while my nurse runs the repair). Guest guest
When I bought a new laptop last year I got ALL KINDS of problems and it went on for months. My IT person finally found that it was a glitch in the hardware of laptop itself. We increased the hardrive memory and it didn't solve the problem. Finally decided that laptop wasn't going to be strong enough to function as a server when I hired a parttime nurse. All the bugginess is gone. It is MADDENING to have crash after crash -- lost notes and attachments too! Now I'm fine and use logmein to work from home. GOOD LUCK! Guest guest
I have been very happy with AC but have had my share of occasional bugginess. I have taken some helpful advice from from my IT guy at the beginning that has turned out to be very prescient and solves most problems I have experienced. He recommended that I not install the AC software directly on my lap top and then try to depend on the wifi connection to the database. His reasoning was that little drops in connection speed or in the connection altogether will drive me crazy and lead to errors and possibly lost data or notes. He got me to use the laptop to remote into the main desktop or server and run the software on the most reliable machine with the database. He said it would make the database connection faster and more reliable. If you get cut off, your note is safely running on the main machine.Although I have several machines including desktops and laptops, I have been most happy with AC when I remote into the server and run AC off the server. It has cut down on the number of variables to contend with and I rarely get slowdowns or handling error connections this way. I'm running 6.1.2 on a windows small business server 2003 ($850). I now remote in from home or from an iPad when I do home visits. If I lose my connection I just reconnect and my note is just where and how I left it on the server/desktop I got cut off from. Guest guest
yes I am and it works quite well interfaces with hospital (xray and labs and dictations for discharge procedures H and P) and local lab data is discrete. Lynn Is anyone using AC with lab interfaces? And if so, are you getting discrete data into each pt chart?
Guest guest
Being a creature of habit I hesitate to change to lab interfaces. How does it look in the chart? How do you get results to patients? Many of mine do not have e-mail or computers. I like getting the paper copy by courier and commenting on it and sending it on to the patient after scanning it into the chart. Thanks, Lynn, you are so AHEAD of the curve. Much braver than I! Lynn Is anyone using AC with lab interfaces? And if so, are you getting discrete data into each pt chart?
Guest guest
it's faster, probably more complete, stored as granular data where you can graph trends, does not lose results.looks better in the chart - easier to see than the scanned copies, bigger, but worse when you print it out - many more pages - I print from the lab interface directly to updox and then send from there.not really ahead, just running as fast as I can so as not to lose groundTo: From: myriaemeny@...Date: Tue, 10 Apr 2012 14:13:35 -0700Subject: Re: Re: Software Reviews Being a creature of habit I hesitate to change to lab interfaces.
