LOL I wish the best of luck to your fiance. Betty
Guest guest
Hi to all.... Sorry I haven't posted lately, but fiance just underwent an acute kidney rejection, and this is after he's had his kidney transplant for 3 years, you just never know....scared us to death !! Plus the strong and potent medication they put him on to try and reverse the rejection....made his sugar go sky high...but we were told to expect that so we were ready for it...and he had to take his R insulin for the first time in 5 months. Had tests in hospital and one did confirm rejection....why this happened we don't know. The dr was going to do a biopsy, if things didnt' turn around for Warren. He did up his anti-rejection meds...which of course also affect his sugar but right then the most important thing was the kidney. Last week his blood creatinine went from 2.5 to 2.4...so thats going in the right direction, and even though its not a big drop...we'll take it !! Seems that the high doses of that one medication and the dr upping his anti rejection meds have worked. But every week now he is going to go for a blood test..just for our own peace of mind.....this was too close of a call. Wanted to say hello to everyone that has joined that I haven't said hello to...not sure how much I will be posting, as things are still kinda scary here for us. Betty....Warren was just diagnosed with Type 2 in January 2000, and while to begin with he could eat most anything in moderation including pasta...we are finding now...that he is fine with a cup of potatoes or rice...but the pasta now is making his sugars a little higher we noticed at bedtime readings...about 145, when normally at bedtime he's at about 106. But we're not sure if its the increased medication that is also doing this since his diabetes was medication induced due to the anti rejection meds he takes for the kidney transplant.....so for now, we're laying off the pasta...except maybe once a month or something. What a vicious circle !!!! But hey...as long as we see that creatinine coming down.....thats what is important right now...pasta can wait until maybe they drop his medication once he's on safer ground again. Bye for now... ________________________________________________________________ YOU'RE PAYING TOO MUCH FOR THE INTERNET! Juno now offers FREE Internet Access! Try it today - there's no risk! Guest guest
HI LEANNE, just thought I would say that the only time I have ever successffully dieted is a couple of years ago when I went to Weight Watchers. Well I sometimes lost 10-12 pounds but always put it back on. Something about the group support and encouragement plus the shelling out of $$ motivated me. Also I was having high blood pressure and sore knees, etc. I lost 20 pounds and have kept it mostly off for 2 years. I am no longer on blood pressure medicine and my knees are much better. One of the things the group did was give me ideas about what to do when I was starving, etc. I just couldn't do it on my own. glocaskey 3 06 Leanne Storch wrote: Thanks Diane. I lost 20 lbs after going off prednisone. Then I gained 10 of it back. Then I lost 15 lbs. Then I gained 10 of it back. I'm slowly creeping back up and I can't seem to stop eating what I know is bad for me. Do I have a death wish? What's my problem? I haven't been able to walk with the weather being so durn hot. Today I get back on that horse. I also have an exercise place within walking distance from my house - I'm going to see if they will allow me to use my oxygen while exercising. I've been resisting weight watchers because I figured I should be able to do this, but I see that is not working too well. Thanks for your support. Guest guest
Welcome Home ..I know your arms are aching for those babies. do lots of pictures. we all want to see.. Love and Prayers, Peggy 9/04 ipf Dear Peggy and Joyce, IMMMMM BACKKKKK! I haven't seen an itemized list of what my doctor charges the insurance company but he ALWAYS makes sure he checks my O2 level at the end of the visit. Now I am suspicious! I had a great time in South Dakota and miss my grandkids already. I have 450 posts to catch up on! We are such a busy group. Peggy wrote: Wonder what they would do if you told them what your numbers are..LOL I took mine with me last time just to check to see if it matched theirs. Love and Prayers, Peggy 9/04 ipf Leanne, Me again with another theory about why docs may not be in favor of our having oximeters.....When I get my itemized charges from my doctor I see that he has charged $45 for clipping that oximeter on my finger! Unreal. What is that ....???..2 seconds, tops. Great money! Suspicious, Joyce > Vicky, I was just wondering, are you on 02 all the time? You are such a wonderful daughter, you really are. My brother is the same way, he's always there for me, along with my hubby. I just got put on insulin myself last week, it will help your dad. Also, I increased my own o2, I went from 2 liters to 3 and I feel better. I see U of MI drs again in Oct so I will tell them then. Just remember Anne, we are here for you, in prayerful support, and in emotional too. God is a mighty God and he hears our prayers. Guest guest
Hi, some of my daughter's genetic testing has come in, she's got a duplication of Chromosome 16. Has anyone else had this or heard of this, please? Any info would be great. Thanks, Christy My candle burns at both ends; It will not last the night; But ah, my foes, and oh, my friends-- It gives a lovely light!
