Guest guest
. My now 6 year old daughter had ACM and TCS since birth, we're convinced. However, she was only diagnosed with TCS at around 4 years of age and had release of the cord 2 months later. She's had leg pains and weakness since infancy. She was diagnosed with ACM1 at 5 years of age and had decompression surgery at 5-1/2 years of age. The only symptoms which have not really been fully resolved from these 2 surgeries are bladder/bowel control problems and, to a certain extent, leg pains/weakness. When I put her down after carrying her on my shoulders for too long (a few minutes), she squats because she has pain/discomfort behind her knees. The latter symptoms (leg) seem to fluctuate but do seem a bit better since decompression surgery. Her leg pains got worse about 1 month after ACM surgery, but it lasted one or two months and then got better. Very strange. During this one or two month period, she would have occasional episodes where she would scream with pain in her legs lasting a few minutes and then would stop. It hasn't happened since then (some 5 months ago or so). She walks for much longer now (she did a 3 hour hike up and down a mountain in NH not too long ago without complaining of leg pains/weakness - she didn't even ask me to carry her!). She recently had a urodynamics test at Boston Children's and they noticed that there was weakness in her left leg - they put some electrosensory needle (don't know the real name) on her leg and determined this. The urologist thinks the bladder/leg issues are probably TCS related (but not sure) and the GI specialist (only specializes in bowel problems) thinks her bowel problem could be either TCS or ACM. She will be doing a test here, at their request, and will be going to Boston shortly to do 3 more tests to see if they can pinpoint her problems. Guest guest
is knee pain chiari or teathered cord related? hi all i have not posted for a while, my boss is keeping me busy at work ,my kids keep me busy at home! i have been havbing pain in my right knee that seems to be get?ing worse. sometimes i have a lot of cracking, sometimes pain, and sometimes it just gives out. i have had surgery for chiari, been diagnosed with teathered cord. but no surgery for teather. do any of you have this? i wonder if it is related or if my knees are just getting bad, i am 41 years old. , I am no expert in any medical field so I put this possibility up to you without trying to give it to you as an answer. eople with more knowledge of Chiari may be able to tell you if what I say is right or wrong. That being said, I have say that I learned to adjust my own neck by going to a chiropractor for some time and taking note what he does and how. My neck cracks and pops all the time but when the headaches come, a quick CRACK by me and most of the time, the pain goes down or goes away. While it may not be your answer, it may hold SOME relief. chows@...
