Guest guest
I am really puzzled, though very grateful. My pcp is part of a huge healthcare network here in the Pacific NW (Providence Health Care). Neither they, nor even our state's medical teaching hospital are sure if they will receive ANY flu vaccine. Yet, driving to pick Em up from work today, I saw that a local church was having a flu shot clinic, not only for those over 65 but for ANYONE who met one of the qualifying conditions (immunosuppressed/compromised, lung disorders or asthma, metabolic disorders). They charged $20, but billed mine to Medicare. I was the last one there, and they still had injections available. I'm wondering why a church would receive vaccine while clinics and hospitals are so short on vaccine this year. Any ideas? Do you think it's because they are smaller orders? I really don't even know if that is true as it was a heath care company contracted by the church to do the clinic. I am grateful as I had no idea if I'd get one from my Dr. But this is puzzling to me! Maybe calling local churches would be a good idea for others here needing the vaccine. Hugs & hope to all....
