Guest guest
Today I turned 49, and I love that I'm 49 now. Didn't do anything majorily fun, but am fine with that because I've been doing fun stuff most days - and even days I don't necessarily do fun things I still enjoy, I think because I'm choosing to enjoy them. I didn't have any b'day cake, I'm in a 5-week weight loss challenge group, and if I lose the most weight I can win $300 next Monday. I'm running a very close second place out of 25 people, if I'd lost about 1 1/2 more pounds I'd be in first place. It's kind of exciting, a fun challenge. 2nd place - $180, 3rd place - $120. I could win or lose a lot of money by just 1/10 of a pound! I belong to the YMCA here in Lansing, and asked the membership director if I could get some Y passes to give to fellow contestants, which I did get. Tonight (Mondays are when we meet) I'm sitting there with all these passes, thinking 'do I really want to give these out? what if they go and work out and lose just that bit more that drops me down a place or out of the money altogether?' Then I smiled, and offered them up, and the people were real excited about getting them. I've lost 15 pounds since Nov 10, if somebody's worked harder than me they deserve that money. Feels good not to let fear decide my choices. Then, after the meeting on the way home, I saw somebody walking by the side of the road. I offered him a ride (I was only about 5 minutes from home, this took me about an hour extra) and it felt so good to do that. He had just been released from jail (said he was innocent). I mentioned it was my b'day. He said 'how come you ain't with yer man?' I think when I told him I didn't have one, he wanted to be 'my man.' I gave him my phone number. Roslyn, when I come visit you, I'll probably bring him along - so plan on two guests instead of one. I had a good day. I will tomorrow too. 'The work' I've done in the past seems to be paying off. I could be stressing about a lot of stuff, but don't seem to. Thanks everybody for wishing me a happy birth anniversary. May your stressful thoughts be investigated, til they drop away and you can see the sunshine that's always there behind the clouds. the B'day girl
