Pat,

I have the feeling that the FDA will be VERY careful with this approval

since they are under fire for approving Vioxx when the studies indicated

possible cardiac problems. I'm glad you're doing well with it and hope it

gets approved if it's effective. Vioxx worked very well for me. If only it

didn't increase my BP.

I asked the rheumy Fellow yesterday if it was safe to take Bextra, and

he gave me an honest answer: they can't be sure. He said that all

medications carry risk. Everyone will not get a bad side effect, but if

you're that one in 100, it matters a great deal to you. So for now I'm

continuing to take Bextra. Sue

I take Bextra, which works fairly well for me. Celebrex did nothing, and steady

doses of ibuprofen make me feel like a rat is attempting to gnaw it's way out of

my stomach. I worry though-with RA we are already at greater risk for

cardiovascular problems, and I worry that even if Bextra is considered

relatively safe for the average person, what about the person with a greater

risk for cardiovascular events? , a...? Whaddya think? Cary

Sue,

I feel the same way about Enbrel. It helps so much that I¹d hate not to get

the benefits of it from fear of side effects. Asprin has side effects.

Everything does. Yesterday I was talking to a woman in a store. Her

daughter has RA and is going to an alternative doctor. She is so afraid of

drugs and all she takes is vitamins and whatever else he gives her. These

vitamins are very expensive her mom says. This girl spend days in her bed

from pain.

No one can get through to her that she is doing more damage to herself by

not treating her RA. There are so many like her that believe the medicine

is worse than the disease. I¹m thankful for Enbrel and even though it

carries risks, my life has been inproved for 5 years.
