Home birth is not for everyone, but my kids were both born at home and I would do it again in a heart beat.

Good luck!

Annie

I have mine from Mayo when our son was born in 1996.  $30 for 2 nights in a private room. Of course that was when they were self-insured. No copays, no physician bills. Totally free health care for their residents. It had changed by the time we left in 1998, but  even then it was way cheap compared to regular health insurance.

I think I still have the hospital bill for $860 for our son born in 1977.

Congratulations!!! Hope everyone is doing well!

Amazing what prices they are quoting you – for the CT (which should be ~$1000) and the ‘discounted’ hospital stay!

IMPS,

and I are expecting our fourth child July 16th, a baby girl.  We are thrilled!!!!

We paid out of pocket for the birth of our third child in 2005,  $8,000. Priceles!.

Some may know a recent 4 hour ER visit for was billed by our local hospital at $7800. CT ABD/PELVIS WITH CONTRAST $4800.

just asked for a quote for a 24hour uncomplicated vaginal delivery for July.

Unblinking the CEO Quotes Hospital Board Policy and Rates:  We can expect a 25% discount as staff physicians so:

Materanal Care: $18,000

Pediatric Care:$3,000

Total Care: $21,000

Now the financial catastrophy:  BCBS family policy for last 7 years between births

$15,000 per year with $5,000 deductible. or $105,000.

SOMETHING HAS TO CHANGE IN HEALTHCARE!!!

Good luck with your child. I don't know if the Advocate chain has made it to your area yet. If it has, one of the benefits with signing up with the PHO is group rate health insurance for you and your staff. . It's not cheap but at $1200/ month for family insurance with just a $40 co-pay and no big deductible it is cheaper than what you pay. Baby shots are covered without co-pay. I agree the cost of health insurance is crazy for everyone. ( Advocate is a large multi hospital PHO in the Chicago area that tends to pay Primary doctors very well. )
