Guest guest
I would think that you would have to contact the UIL, as they are the organization that requires an EMS presence at athletic competitions. [texasems-L] Question for Gene, Mike Hudson and others << File: ATT00000.htm >> I had someone ask me this question and I was not sure of the answer, so I will pose the same question to Gene, Mike Hudson (since he worked for TDH) and others. A small town does not have an ambulance service that will cover their football games, but the local volunteer FD has first resonders that are all ECAs, and will provide coverage for the game. They have talked with the UIL and they have said that as long as medical personnel is there, no ambulance has to be there. The football team has a Physician Asst that is on the sidelines. Can an ECA or EMT-P hand care off to a PA? If so, then the PA becomes responsible for pt care, correct? Since a PA is of higher training, they are assuming that this can be done, since the PA does make medical diagnosis on pts in a medical office just as a MD or DO does. Any help on this question would be appreciated. Thanks, Wayne Dennis, EMT-P
