I am so glad for you, !! I know what a terrible fight it can be to get

SS! I wasn't eligible because I didn't have enough " credits " in because of

attending college (at middle age), but I did get my college loans erased

because of disability, so I know how you must feel! It is a big weight off

the shoulders! Congratulations and party on!!

My mom's medicaid was approved today - YAY! That means she can go out for

visits or to get an ice cream, or whatever; this will THRILL her no end.

Heck, it thrills ME no end! :)

I'm going to start small, with an ice cream cone outing this evening. Then

maybe a ramble around a Dollar Store later this weekend, since shopping has

always been important to her...I can give her a $10 bill or something. But

I'm planning on the first few outings to be short. I know she'll want to

go

past her house; I have the $4/gallon for gas and it's too far away (30

miles) excuse, but is one of the reasons I want to keep visits short - " I

wish I had more time, mom... "

But I am so happy and excited, it's almost as if *I* were the one just

handed the keys - lol! I'm celebrating and looking forward to seeing her

this evening, she hasn't had an ice cream cone from the Custard Cup yet and

it's the best ice cream (well, frozen custard) in town!!

This morning she had her piano tuned, Pete went there to pay the man, and

she was right there, beaming and happy and excited - and they tell me that

normally mornings are her worst times! But these meds, and also I think

her

on the road to acceptance of her life there, are really turning the tables.

And now that she can go on outings, that will help as well. ( did

warn me that, once gets out the doors and her new security is gone,

she may not have an easy time of it at first.) I'm SO much hoping that she

can learn to enjoy her life while she's able, in spite of her illness and

living arrangements...

His,

Sherry ('s daughter)

Hi Kristy,

I would really love Sienna to have a swab test with Dr. -Cook,

but I only ticked the questionnaire section of the research part, what

should I do? can I just turn up on the day she's doing it? or can I

email her?

No - We were going to do the first conference, but we ran out of time and

said - we could just drive down to VA and get it done - of course, we

never did. Life happens!
