Guest guest
I have to agree with you on this one also when it comes to the time people spend on taking all of these EMS classes to help their community and are having to work all day, go to class two nights a week and then having to drive an hr or two in order to do this. Without the the rural based classes, there are alot of rural services that would not have a service, because as you stated, most jr college are not going to take the time to offer these classes off of their campus. Gene, how many classes does your school offer off campus? Basic, Intermediate & Paramedic? Maybe a few basic and intermediate, but probably not one paramedic class is offered off campus. I'm sorry to say, but you have opened a BIG can of worms on this one. Granted, it is now going to take longer to teach the paramedic course once everything is approved, but will that get ride of the " patch factory " type courses...probably not. When all of the rural ALS coordinators are out of business, are you as a college and other colleges going to pick up the slack and got to these rural departments and teach there classes? Maybe, if it is in the budget?
