Guest guest
I walk on the treadmill for a half hour three times per week. I usually walk on it Monday, Wednesday and Friday until I am in good shape, which I think will take me about five or six months. Then I will walk on it four or five times per week. I was in such bad shape that it took me many trys at a low speed before I was able to walk for a whole half hour continuously. Initially I had to walk for five or ten minutes and rest for three or four minutes before I could walk on it again. I have gotten up to walking a half hour at 2.5 miles per hour after three months of continuous effort. The heart rate as determined by your age and speed of walking is vital to watch, when building up your stamina, while you exercise. Even being in good shape, in my case did not prevent heart attacks. I was swimming a mile three times per week in less than 55 minutes and smoking a pack of cigarettes per daywith a cholesterol level of 180 when I had my first heart attack. On the second heart attack I was a nonsmoker for eight years swimming a mile three times per week in 50 minutes with a cholesterol level of 170. On the third heart attack four years after the second one I was still a nonsmoker and walking a mile and a half in less than 30 minutes with a cholesterol level of 210. I walk because I like to do it, and I can now go shopping with my wife without having to stop and sit down every five or ten minutes to rest. I don't know if it will help me live longer or not, but I do feel better now. Guest guest
. Don't do much walking for now til we get your insulin adjusted. Your running lows and exercise will make you run even lower and you could pass out so dont walk for now. Once your sugars are stabilized, along with your insulin, then we can work on exercise. Guest guest
Does anyone with fms try to exercise? Do you all live sedentary lives like I do? I want so bad to do physical things and am very depressed because I just can't. It's too painful. My new Pulmonologist had me to walk for 6 mins in his office a couple of wks ago and it put me down for a whole week. Then a week after that I went through a full day of testing for him at the hospital. I walked to the first test and then got lost going to the second one, finally made it to that one, but called my son on the way to have him come back up there and push me in a wheel chair. Again, I spent a week in horrible pain. This was just last Friday and I'm still not back to normal. Do any of you have this same problem? I'm feeling so very alone today and depressed. ~Tommie~ www.myspace.com/tommiejj PH, CFS, FMS, Diabetes, Sleep Apnea, Restless Leg Syndrome
