Guest guest
Hi Larry, Good to hear that you’re doing your research – that can indeed be a confusing process, given the uncertainties of prostate cancer. You ask about RCoG and I’m not sure how many responses you would have had from this site. There is a site where this institution and the ProstRcision technique are often discussed because the owner – Don Cooley is (or was) a poster boy for the place and even appeared in their promotional video. Many of the men who subscribed to his Forum at http://prostate-help.org/forum had been to RCoG and I must say that it was a rare event for anyone to have anything but praise for the place. I use the past tense incidentally because my views were not tolerated on the site. In passing you may not be aware that your diagnosis appears to fit the definition of an insignificant tumour – defined as as being: 1. Nonpalpable 2. Stage T1c 3. Percent free PSA 15 or greater 4. Gleason less than 7 5. Less than three needle cores with none greater than 50% tumour. Men with this diagnosis may be candidates for Active Surveillance and if that is of any interest to you, this article published in The Lancet may be of some use. http://tinyurl.com/arc8s All the best Terry Herbert in Melbourne Australia Diagnosed ‘96: Age 54: Stage T2b: PSA 7.2: Gleason 3+3=6: No treatment. June '04: TURP. Aug '06 PSA 27.4 My site is at www.prostatecancerwatchfulwaiting.co.za It is a tragedy of the world that no one knows what he doesn’t know, and the less a man knows, the more sure he is that he knows everything. Am 54 years old, have a PSA of 7.2, Gleason of 6 (3+3), stage T1c. Still trying to decide which treatment option to take. I think I've narrowed it down to surgery or the process they do at the Radiotheropy Clinics of Georgia call ProstRcision. This is a hybrid seed implant/radiation therapy which they do simultaneously. Has anyone tried this, or know of anyone who did? The results they publish are very good indeed. You can check out their site at www.rcog.com.
