Guest guest
mine are called procare padded finger strips I actually use them to hold the garbage bag in place in the trash bin so the bag does not slip down into the bin.I have other splints I do not find these things very useful I cut it with scissors thoguh I have to curse as i do as it takes a little effort Dressing scissors Probably any scissors. My Googling mustn't be very good this morning.....I am trying to order that bendable (aluminum?) splint with foam padding that can be cut to different lengths. Anyone know what it's called on medical supply sites? While am at it, what is the best thing to cut it with? Guest guest
The best scissors to use I call "trauma scissors." They are the ones the EMTs and paramedics carry to cut through thick clothes, seat belts, etc. They cut through metal like "butta." The only downside is they leave a little bit of a rough edge because they are usually serrated. I get around this by pulling up the foam a little bit near where the cut is made and undercutting the metal below the foam. I then wrap the loose end of the foam over the rough edge and hold it down with cloth tape. If you can't undercut the foam, wrapping with the cloth tape alone around the edge serves the same function.Straz Thanks Jean.Found it. I use it occasionally; feel like bending it around to fashion a custom splint makes me look like a real doctor . I too cut with scissors, but thought maybe I was missing some easier way.I basically find it useful when I need to order an appropriate splint and need to tide someone over. Guest guest
Try looking up "Alumifoam" . I think that's what the simple long strips you couldcut to any length are called. There's also an "Alumaform" that gets somehits and looks like they have more fancy shapes. CaldwellTulare, CA
