These are what I have (probably compiled from this list serve):Email 99444Phone 99441 99442Home Visit New 20" 99341 30" 99342 45" 99343 60" 99344 75" 99345Est 15" 99347 25" 99348 40" 99349 60" 99350I compiled this a couple of years ago, so I can't swear to their currency; but, it's what I use. Also, as I don't bill insurance, I can't swear to their efficacy in obtaining reimbursement.Straz

Anyone with a handy list on CPTs for housecalls?

Also - do all insurance companies cover these?

Appreciate any info as I seem to have more

requests to visit patients at home and think

it would be a fun part of my practice to expand.

Google " CPT home visits " and you will find more explanations. I've never been

denied payment for one, but I think I've only done them for Medicare and Blue

Cross. I only do them for medical necessity (not just patient convenience), and

I document that in my notes. Contrary to what some of the articles say, they do

not pay better than office visits, or even as well for the total time you spend,

at least in my area.---Sharlene

I do home visits regularly. Reimbursement here is better than an equivalent office visit but not a lot more, so I limit my visits to within 5 miles of the office. I also try my best to only do these before lunch so I have as much time as I need without impacting the rest of my patients. I love being able to get out of the office and see patients in their natural environment. J I think home visits are cool and highly recommend them. Good luck!  I do some-- mostly at end of day-- for  the time thing But  rural here  so  is kinda I am more likley to offer one if you live on m y route home. With 15 min travel  say round trip families never want you t o leave after 15  - 20 min so  it  becomes an hr or 90min  and reimbursmetn happens but  doesnt make it worth while

I also get alot out of seeing the home environemtn but I also cannot ever see in their i dark living rooms  nor examine people well  so I do them  mostly when on hospice.. and often then the home nurses are in and theya  re far better set up  for this anyway  and are my eyes and ears..

Home visits are cool but Medicare straight out told me it's 12 dollars less per visit for the same amount of time (after all "don't have to turn on the lights at the office but can't include travel time or gas). At least one insurance won't pay home visits no matter what --- even if it's saving them money by seeing the patient every other day (alternating with Visiting nurses) to treat the pneumonia or CHF or other such conditions that I've kept patients at home with. Right now Medicare seems to have set their computers to reject any home visits cuz I'm not getting paid without giving them the records first and they have down coded every visit. It's a huge money loser. Good for satisfaction of a job well done but burns that can't even get Medicare rates fairly. Medicare only pays if truly homebound:

COPD, moridly obese, severe walking difficulties, etc. To: Sent: Friday, March 23, 2012 11:09 AM Subject: Re: Housecall CPT codes
