We have the e-MDs patient portal.  I believe that you can re-use the same email address.  For parents of children under 18, this is not an issue since the parent is legally responsible.  However, for older children, it is up to the child to determine whether or not they want mom or dad seeing what is in their chart.  The system will designate separate user ID and passwords for each unique patient.  Once a username is used, it cannot be used for another patient.  So if your patients are changing their user names, they cannot use the same one for all patients in the family and see everyone's info in one place.  They have to log in separately for each member of the family.

Hi everyone,For those of you who use the Patient Portals: How do you use it with families. For example, we have an entire family that we see in the office but the children are minors and do not have email accounts yet. Do you use the parents email and they will have access to there info and their children's info?
