Guest guest
Sorry to hear about your sister. It really sounds like diabetes really runs in your family. Is everyone a type 2? I hope you are feeling better from your pneumonia. My Dad was visiting a week ago and I asked him how his diabetes was going and he said he didn't have it anymore. ???? He has been a pretty heavy drinker his whole life and has cirrhosis. I really worry about him. After breakfast I got out my meter and tested everyone. I was 140. My step mom was 130 and my Dad was 210! Yikes! Anyway he did admit that he gets an acrid taste in his mouth if he eats too much sugar. He also said he had some kind of sweet drink (alcoholic) got the sweats, dizziness and felt queasy. His Dr. has never suggested a meter and testing his blood. I told him he should at least get a HbA1c done. It is really hard when somebody is in denial.
Guest guest
Carol Teeman - thank you so much for that hopeful news! The poor kid just got hit like a ton of bricks with the news. She is one of those outdoorsy types - off every weekend, camping, swimming, hiking, bicycling ... She has always eaten healthy too. She is proof that, when we're born with these genes, often the best we can manage is to delay the onset of illness - but not prevent it. I'll send you her e-mail privately, and give her yours. And I'm off now to forward her your good news! Hugs, Susie )

It will be interesting to see how her sugars run with the diabetic diet. I know there are others out there who do it. Here is a vegetarian low carb site that I had in my favorite places. http://www.immuneweb.org/lowcarb/ Meniowl@... type2,dx7/99,low-carbs & water aerobics
Guest guest
This is an interesting site - I love it when people honestly review low carb foods. Sounds like there's a few new things to try out, like the Yves brand of pseudomeats. >Here is a vegetarian low carb site that I had in my favorite places. > >http://www.immuneweb.org/lowcarb/ > =+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+= Information Indexing Services http://www.wrightinformation.com Jancw@... =+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=

I just checked it out, and that seems perfectly suited to her needs. The " good news " is she has the knowledge gained from being a member of a diabetic family, and she has always been physically active. So her prognosis is good.
