Guest guest
I’m curious about this as well. , could you tell me whether you were having problems with running other programs when running Parallels, or just AC? I thought I’d heard a few people say some pretty good things about Parallels recently. With a fast processor and lots of memory, I’m guessing the experience would be a pretty reasonable one (these days). And even if that turned out not to be true, if you’re willing to use Boot Camp to load Windows natively anyway if you had to, then you’d simply be running Windows 7 on an Intel-based PC, just like anybody else who runs AC on a PC – i.e., you should have no worries at all about slowdowns or crashes from emulation. I happily use Amazing Charts. I need a new computer and would much prefer a mac. Does anyone use Amazing Charts on an Intel based mac with Windows installed? I tried this years ago, using Parallels, and I was not very satisfied due to frequent crashes and the slow functioning of the computer. I am leaning toward trying again. I don't necessarily need to use Parallels--could use Boot Camp. Anyone doing this? Brand
Guest guest
I just went through this, since my laptop was old and grumpy and I needed a new one. I bought a Macbook Air, which I LOVE! I soon discovered it wasn't as easy as I thought to run Amazing Charts. I bought Parallels and Windows 7 and put them on the Macbook and then Amazing Charts worked. (I did need to have my IT consultant come in to get my Macbook on my network, since AC database is on my desktop in the back office and networking Windows on a Mac to the network was a real pain). But it's up and running and I just love my Mac. The only glitch I now have is that I can't attach an imported lab to an email, since AC is on the Windows side and email is on the Mac side, so I just do those emails in my office on the desktop. This was a pricey way to run AC on a laptop, so when I add another AC workstation for a midlevel I'm just going to use a simple laptop. But I use my Macbook Air for so much other stuff it was definitely worth it to me. Gretchen Gretchen Reis MDWellspring Family Medicine1171 N. Court St.Circleville, OH 43113greis@... Guest guest
I use Amazing Charts through Parallels on my Macbook Air for the last 15 months. I've been having more freezes lately. Thought it might be related to having Quickbooks Pro (the other program I use through Parallels) open at the same time. (Skip this if you don't care about Quickbooks for Mac.) It was time to upgrade my QB program anyway (they only support and allow credit card processing for 3 years on old versions), so I got QB for Mac and having been getting that set up this week. Had to get help to get my company files transferred over (the newer QB allow you to save as Mac or Windows versions, but 2009 didn't), but generally that seems to be working ok. One Quickbooks disappointment is that the Mac version doesn't yet support recurring credit card charges, so I may have to manually process those each month (although numbers, etc. are saved so it won't be too bad, but I loved the automatic recurring charges on the Windows version). Too soon to tell if that is going to solve my Amazing Charts and Parallels issues. (Have actually been considering a change to Practice Fusion.) I do love my Mac though....the lack of problems is quite impressive. Those who are successfully using AC (or another windows program on a Mac), please give details. I use Windows 7 and Parallels 6(maybe upgrading that would help?). Guest guest
I am running bootcamp and Windows 7 on my Macbook Air-- works perfectly, no crashes, and it runs AC faster than my desktop... Then when I go home, I re-boot the computer in Mac OS for " me " time! a Garrido, ARNP www.villagefamilyclinic.com > > > > > > > > Hi, I know this has been addressed before, but having trouble finding it > > when I search.
