Guest guest
Been to the Scripps Integrative Medicine conference once a few years ago. Well organized, lots of info. I wish I had the time to digest the info and integrate it into my regular daily practice. The conference was a good one. Wen Can anyone who has been to this conference or to A4M(antiaging medicine) conferences compare and contrast. I would like to get more functional medicine, and integrative training, and leaning to Scripps conference, but feedback from this group would be beneficial. Guest guest
,I went to the Scripps one a few years ago. Tons of info in small chunks (20-45 minutes) by different speakers....almost all were excellent. Pretty much all lecture format. Huge amount of info in a week. They send you a huge syllabus ahead of time (but I decided pretty close to the conference I was going so didn't have a lot of time to read ahead, which would be useful). More of a survey course than in depth on any particular modality, but it was a very useful survey. Since almost every topic was covered by different people, a little more coordination would have been helpful (some info was repeated a bit), but it was very well run overall. Excellent attempts at a healthful conference: yoga in the early morning, healthy meals, stretch breaks. Had shoulder massages during the exam. Some vendors present but very little pushing of products during the lectures (with only a very few exceptions). Seemed slightly impersonal compared to IMP Camp, but then, what doesn't? Let me know if you have any other questions. I know others have gone also and I'm interested to hear how their impressions sync with mine. Guest guest
regarding this... is it worthwhile to register with ABIHM instead.. and what's the advantage of certification? grace > > , > I went to the Scripps one a few years ago. Guest guest
The integrative board certification board certification is changing since Sharon, Jess, Elaine, and I (and others? So sorry if I've forgotten anyone) attended the Scripps conference in the Fall of 2008. I agree with Sharon's assessment 100% -- a lot to digest in a week (highly recommend reading the material ahead of time, which I didn't do, and wouldn't take my 4 month old baby along if I could go back, as cute as he looked in Sharon's arms), but a very useful survey course and great starting off point to my practice in integrative family medicine (though of course ongoing study and collaboration has also been key in that journey). Highly recommend.
