Guest guest
Kadi if you continue to have hassles, get your doctor to clarify by writing a letter stating that because you had " possible " angina, possibly anything really, cos there was no clear diagnosis , and it wasn,t coded for insurance claim, as gerd, heart etc. Each time I had major chest probs, before I was diagnosed with unstable angina, they tested and asked if I ever had stomach problems, thats because with heart/ chest pain there are so many possibilities , even heart burn can be the cause, of chest pain, caused just by something you ate, or drank etc. Get your doc to give a letter to explain why there were no diagnosis, and he can then get them to alter the code. Of course if a specific diagnosos of GERD came before your new insurance plan that would be different. But GERD, is n,t heart burn, or just upset tummy etc, it can be a diagnosos. You can suffer all same symptoms from taking certain meds and anti biotics, but is not GERD as such. If you have a problem I would get the doctor to clear things up, after all he knows what codes to put for your payments etc, he also knows that meds upset the stomach, but are not GERD too. Huigs. Guest guest
Thank you Sandy. I do need for him to clarify. One of the problems is that insurance companies force doctors to pick a diagnosis code whether he/she was able to confirm or not. And that's what he did...I think a letter from him will help. By the way, during this battle to get my claims paid, I was told to order my medical records. It was amazing how many errors I found. Many of the errors negatively impacted my benefits (GERD codes used when I was in for bronch, etc.) Spooky. I recommend everyone get copies and check on this every six months or year. What a pain to have to carefully examining not only what the insurance company is doing but also one's docs, in order to get the insurance benefits one is paying for!!!! Lucky you folks with universal health care.
