Dear Friend,

Have you been following the fight over telecom immunity? The Bush

administration wants Congress to let phone companies off the hook for

spying on Americans, since they did it at his request.

This sets a terrible precedent. It basically says that it is ok for

corporations to break the law, as long as it is the government who is

asking. It also paves the way for whatever infringement of our rights

the government decides it would like in the future. I'm reminded of

Nixon who said, " If the president does it, it's not illegal. "

Well, that's not what the Constitution says. This FISA bill

specifically condones government spying. Despite what we are told in

school, our government is not our friend. It is a manifestation of

collective-ego and it is concerned with its own survival which it

perceives will be brought about by the domination of others. It is

time to take a stand for personal liberty and demand that your

representative in congress join you in that stand. Please watch the

linked video (it only lasts for maybe two minutes) where Sen. Russ

Feingold is thanking supporters and laying out what's at stake: There

is a link there which will make it easy to send communication to your

representatives in Congress.

For years we Americans have pondered how the Germans could have stood

idly by and watched as fascists took over their country. I'm

suggesting that perhaps one day you will be explaining to your

children and grandchildren what you did or did not do during this

critical time in American history.

We are talking about nothing less than our fourth amendment right to

privacy, guaranteed by the Constitution. Are you willing to let that

be legislated out of existence?

Watch this brief video. http://www.truemajority.org/FeingoldAction

Thanks!

Carson Boyd
