Guest guest
Hi all, Having suffered it all my life but only having been diagnosed Feb 1994, I guess I had to learn more about it when told. Today I know a lot about it. However, I dont want to appear to be a lecturer but a few posts on the subject on the Chiari list worry me about how people here see sleep apnea. So, I wont go into things people may not want to hear. If you want to know, let me know and I will give you what I know. I will issue one warning though: UNTREATED SLEEP APNEA IS A DEATH SENTENCE. There are no two ways about that. Even studies at educational and sleep disorder places have proven this beyond a shadow of doubt. It kills most people between 50-55 years of age and there are very few older than that with untreated sleep apnea. It kills by starving your body of oxygen and of course that includes your heart so you have a heart attack. Many people dying of a heart attack are misdiagnosed as just having heart problems. If they had been treated for sleep apnea, they may have been alive today. I am in my mid 40s and if I sleep too long in one session, I wake up with a headache worse than any migraine I have ever known and blood in my eyes, sometimes actually running out of my eyes. I am probably one of the most severe cases still here to talk about it, still untreated, that I know. All I am asking all of you and asking SINCERELY is to take sleep apnea seriously. It is an insidious killer. Sorry if anyone is sick of my postings.... I admit I dont know much about Chiari but I know a heck of a lot about sleep apnea that any of you can contact me about, should you wish. chows@...
