Thanks, Sorry , I totally missed this post! The Lyrica has helped a lot and with taking the 60mg Cymbalta I have felt some relief, more with the depression part. I have taken many antidepressents and this one helps me a great deal. As far as for pain, I am not sure yet but this is the first month I have taken the increased dose, so we will see about that. I just get tired of taking meds all together!!!LOL..... But if they help me, then it is worth it! Gentle Hugs, Kim C. **************Start the year off right. Guest guest
Kim, I have noticed a HUGE improvement in my mood from the lyrica, and I'm only just increasing to 100 mg this morning. My psychiatrist said that lyrica is related to neurontin, which they use for mood stabilization. I was taking lithium for bipolar disorder, but discovered in December (after 14 months of excruciating stomach pain) that it was the cause of all my stomach problems. I didn't know that lithium could cause stomach problems, and none of my doctors bothered to even check whether any of the meds I was taking might be contributing to my problems. Apparently stomach problems are common with lithium. Who knew??? He also told me that lithium can drag you into depression if you have bipolar II disorder, not bipolar I, because it works more on mania than depression. I was suffering from ongoing depression along with the stomach problems, and both are now completely gone after only one week on a low dosage of lyrica and three weeks off the lithium. I must be one of the 30% of patients that are helped by lyrica. I wasn't hanging my hat on it doing anything, since it only has been shown to help 30% of the patients that take it, but I am amazed at the difference in my mood and how manageable my pain is now. I'm calling lyrica the miracle drug. Even if it only gives me this one week of relief, it's one wonderful week I've had with my family. The llithium fog is gone and I can really enjoy my kids again. What a difference! It's so nice to have some good news for a change. I wish this for everyone here and fast. I pray that they don't find that lyrica causes problems, like they did with zelnorm. It's so new, I'm sure we'll be hearing about some side effects soon. I'm just crossing my fingers that they don't take it off the market. To me, it's been just wonderful. Sorry to sound so excited, but feeling good is not something I'm used to anymore! ) Hugs to all, Chelle
