We made it through our first day in our new office. Hurrah! No big snafu's to worry about...now we just need to get the art hung on the walls, and we hope our new, much more visible, much less expensive, much nicer suite gets very busy, not only for us, but for our new roommate as well! He has decided to go the all cash, no insurance route. On a personal note.. the weekend was a challenge, not only to get everything moved from the old office to the new, but to also get our son off to Sea Cadet Boot Camp. And tomorrow, our daughter has a 6:30 am flight to Grandpa's house.... Pratt (who isn't quite sure what to accomplish first with no kids in the house for a week!) Guest guest
Lynn, Good luck in your move!! We looked at buying a coop, too, but we had just finished paying TI on our old space and don't have any more working capital to even start with new TI. And the building owner has no capital, either. Over time, it would have been less expensive, but the building wasn't in a very good location, either. Much too far from the bulk of where our patients live & work. We moved about 2 miles from our old office....have had an equal number of " yay, you are right around the corner from me " and " oh, that's sooo far away! " comments. It is .8 miles farther from home, but instead of being in an office building complex where nobody could find us and the building management wouldn't let us BUY our own sign for in front of the building because we weren't leasing enough space (only 1 suite in the entire building is large enough, per their rules, so 3 slots on the marquis sign in front of the I building remain empty), we are now in a shopping center (Safeway is the big store) in the newest part of town, in the only 2 story building. We used to have the farthest suite from the elevator, and now have the closest suite. We went from 1550 sq ft to leasing 60% of 2035 sq ft and will share with a like-minded FP. We will never be responsible for the other 40% of the rent, as we are subletting from the hospital. The new space is beautifully done (if I do say so myself), very light, bright, and airy. Steve has a view of Mt. Diablo from his office that is awesome! The paperwork is what is killing me now...we decided to wait on notifying Medicare. We are updated in NPPES, which you have to do first. But I can't figure out PECOS, and I know which paper form to file, so I am going to do that instead. The worst part about the entire move was doing it ourselves. Next time (hah! As if there will be one of those), we are hiring a mover. We are getting too old to be moving furniture and exam tables! I hope everyone has a safe & Happy 4th!
