Guest guest
Hi! I recently moved to Little Rock,Ar from NY State and I'm struggling to find the right primary care doctor. I go to the Arkansas Headache Clinic in Sherwood,AR. to see Dr. Money. He isn't a pain specialist so this week I'm going to Dr.Schultz in No. Little Rock, who is. That's not so far from Searcy, but still a ways from Texarcana. Have you thought about trying someone in Dallas? They must have a slew of pain specialists, and it looks closer on the map than anything in Arkansas. I guess I should introduce myself: I'm Sue and I've had bad headaches since I woke up from brain surgery in 1997. I have a basilar tip aneurysm that was filled in with Gugliemi Detatchable coils...I call them GD Coils...(fill in the initials any way you want,I do)...since then, the coils have compacted and changed shape, causing a slew of problems. Now I've got terrible head pain that stays with me daily and sometimes the cure is worse than the pain.In the past year I've been on Lyrica and methadone and morphine to battle the pain. The Lyrica is newer for me. I wish the docs could find a drug that keeps me from gaining weight instead of the kind that does.Since I've been on Lyrica I've gained at least 40 pounds. The more I take, the more my hands and feet swell from edema. Last week at the doctors office they told me I gained 9 lbs in one week! That's impossible! I thought....until the following appt with another doctor for tests, they weighed me and I'd lost 13 pounds. So,it's been a rollercoaster ride lately.I decided to reach out to a support group to help through these latest trials. That's my story so far.Thank you for letting me join this group. Guest guest
Welcome to the group Sue. I'm sorry you're having such a bad time. The head stuff sounds awful! I went on Lyrica four days ago, and I am already seeing a difference in my pain levels, even though I am only taking 50 mg. Are you taking it for fibromyalgia or for the head pain? It's a brand new drug and expensive, because there's no generic. Again, welcome. I look forward to talking with you! Chelle
