Hi All :)

I had an endoscopy and colonoscopy a month or two ago (Brain Fog - can't

remember when it was). Anyway, I have been having more intestinal and bowel

problems since the colonoscopy, at least I think so. I never did ask if they

used a sheath over the scope. Hmmm. The nurse did ask if I was allergic to

latex or anything so I presume that's why she asked me (the sheath is

probably latex).

Also about a month ago I came down with the stomach flu or something. I

started out feeling nauseated and then progressed to diarrhea. Then came

the vomiting. Tons of it! I don't know where it all came from cuz I hadn't

eaten much since the previous night. I was up and down from my bed a lot of

the night. I couldn't get comfortable either cuz my body ached. The next

morning I took my temp (around 3:45 A.M. and it was 102.6 F. =:o That blew

my mind. I took some aspirin and eventually it came down. Amazingly, my PCP

(who is a G.I. and has PSC patients) called that morning. I told him about

it and I asked about cholangitis. He said I don't really have strictures,

but ductopenia instead. I think that means my duct is dilated at the liver

end but I don't know for sure. Does anyone else know?

" Stool Watcher " revisited... mine have been a light yellowish color. Anyone

else had that? My urine is normal looking though.

Guess I've rambled long enough. I hope everyone is as well as can be.

Take Care,

Dianne A.

Hi, I've just finished my work in our home office and checked my mail before

heading out into the great sunny day.............. I had HORRIBLE problems

after

my colonoscopy. Terrible diarrhea. It turns out that I got giardia from the

scope. Are you sure they shielded the scope? You might consider getting

checked

for giardia if you don't get better soon--I was a mess. Don't presume that the

latex question referred to the scope; it may have been because they use latex

gloves. I live in the suburbs of a major city and had not traveled anywhere

(except England six months earlier) so the doc was astounded to find that I had

giardia! Now we all know that scopes carry illnesses so anything is possible.

My sister goes salmon fishing in Alaska and I'M the one to get giardia...go

figure.

Phil's GI doctor was sure he'd get infected when he did the ERCP (he said it was

because it goes through the mouth that they can't sterilize) and after hearing

how

many of you came through without a hitch I tend to believe it is more that they

don't

watch it, that he sent him home on IV antibiotics for 3 days over Christmas

before he

did it. Didn't matter he still got a terrible infection. I think he had an

infection before the ERCP because he was running fevers with chills and then

jaundice

all through the month of December and unfortunately didn't go to the doctor

until the

week before Christmas. So don't know if it was just the ERCP that gave him his

terrible infection that landed him in the hospital for 10 days. He was severely

jaundinced, his scalp was almost green. The other 3 times following just his

eyes

were yellow and 3 days of IV antibiotics did the trick. He has only had that

one

ERCP because both the doctor and we are scared to death to do another after the

last

experience and so far, luckily he hasn't had to have one. Sorry for the run on

sentences.

I think the pain he had last night in his abdomen may have been from the PSC and

not

the blood clot cause it sounds like what Tim discribed. It is really

frustrating to

have multiple problems going on at the same time to know what is causing what.

I can

see how the blood clot thing would relate to the PSC so I think it may be

another

unrelated thing. Just what we need. Our life isn't complicated enough. Phil's

pain

passed within about an hour and he had no fever so it may just have been gas and

he

was feeling okay this morning.

Don't get too scared. Phil had no problems at all after his. I had one and

think that

the worst part is before-Yuk! Phil doesn't even have a problem with that. So

think

positive and light your candles and we'll be praying for you.
