Did he find the yeast by culturing you and sending it off the the Great Smokies for testing? As you know, I have my appointment scheduled with him next week. I am really starting to get nervous about it. If he treats me with that God almighty arrogence attitude, I don't know what I will do..... How's your discharge doing? When I spoke to last week, you didn't say whether or not you still were culturing positive for the yeast, are you still positive? Hope you are doing a little better. I am doing a LOT WORSE. I am not exactly sure why, but I feel like the entire area is radiating out towards by butt and thighs with this burning sensation. I am still having this unbelievable pus discharge coming out of me. Hi Eileen, I am so sorry that you are worse. I'm sure it will be only a temporary setback. Whenever I get really bad I get sooo discouraged as all of you on this list know. Now I am back to pretty much where I was. Still in constant pain, but able to function. Dr. Horowitz did a rectal culture by sticking a swab in my butt, just like a PAP- but thank God no speculum! He swabbed the inside of my mouth and also did a vaginal culture. He looked at the wet mount under his super duper microscope and saw lots of yeast. When I told him that so many other doctors just said to me that some yeast is normal down there and that can't be my problem, he responded that the amount I had far exceeded normal. The cultures were sent to Quest Labs and took a week to culture out and 1 to 2 more weeks to identify the species. I think it is a good idea to go to him. IT will help to ease your mind about the flora and related discharge. However, he just kept bombarding me with antifungals and that made me a lot worse. BTW, the yeast test for the Great Smokies lab used actual stool, not just a swab. You know those flat paper french fry containers shaped like a rectangular bowl, I had to poop in that and then use their little spoon and scoop some out and place it in a test tube filled with some liquid. Isn't it so strange how this illness impacts our lives? If someone a few years ago said I would be writing this on the internet, I would have never believed it. >How's your discharge doing? When I spoke to last week, you didn't say >whether or not you still were culturing positive for the yeast, are you still >positive? Right now I have my period and as usual I feel slightly better but I have this facial and chest rash. However, what happens to me is that as my period ends my burning becomes almost unbearable and that is when I have that thick sticky discharge. So any day now I'm sure that will begin. Although maybe it will be a little better this cycle because of the guai. I haven't heard about the culture Dr. Gibbons did 2 weeks ago. However, I have not cultured positive for yeast since September. But I have cultured positive for 2 different bacterias, but chose not to take antibiotics, since the bacterias were " relatively normal " inhabitants. One was E coli and I think the other was h para influenza. Perhaps you could get an appointment with DR. Gibbons on the same day as your Dr. H appointment. Even though Dr. Gibbons only works on Mon and Wed pm and Tues am his office workers are much more flexible. I had to wait 3 months to see Dr. H. I called Dr. G's office and told them about my severe symptoms and they got me in the next week. They really are wonderful people. I will be thinking of you. Dr. H really isn't a bad person. But that whole office experience only added to my misery. If you just want access to that super duper microscope then your visit should be fine. The problems arise when you deal with that office all of the time. Good luck, Sandi
