I have 3 cats and I do that all the time :-) > When you wrote about looking into their eyes and seeing fear, then > begging, then resignation, I wonder if this is what 6 year old Hanle > was feeling, rather than the kittens, with those feelings being > projected onto the kittens? Yes Jon, I can see that she was projecting her own feelings onto them. She certainly felt the fear and begged. > I'm also just re-reading the subject line and struck by the warning of > animal cruelty - perhaps a warning of 'personal cruelty' could be > included alongside any of our stressful beliefs. I was very angry at my mother for allowing me to witness this. Over the last couple of days I have realised that she may have been so upset about what was happening herself that she did not even realised I was there until I started to scream. I also see how I could have contributed towards the adults suffering even more because of my behaviour. Who knew?

Oh Roslyn, I too had mice when I was little that just kept breeding and breeding and one day when I cam home from school they were all gone. My mother gave me some story about something happened to them all. I can see today that sometimes you just don't have a choice in doing cruel things. And the cruel act may be an act of kindness. Guest guest
Heck, no I didn't notice and you are soooooo right. I often believed I should be ashamed of my family, that my mother is mean-spirited, that I am worth less than other people (mmm, I see worth less makes worthless, another believe I had). Doing the work on this incident has turned these beliefs upside down. I have indeed saved myself and my family..... Thank you for your loving assistance :-) It helped me a lot. > Hi Hanle, > > It seems that you started with the belief that " I should have saved > the kittens " and you've gone on to save yourself and your family. > Just in case you hadn't noticed :-) > > With love, > > Jon
Guest guest
Thanks Hanle - I read your message earlier and burst into tears - the thought " I don't deserve to be loved " jumped up and bit me - has been brewing for a while but your message hit the spot :-) (Is this just " I am worthless " in another form? Feels like it to me.) Funny old world this is. While I'm here, it also seems like you've saved the kittens as well - they are no longer stuck in this story of a terrible death. I'm just reflecting on your earlier posts, about being OK with your family and having forgiven them - I've heard say that the work isn't about being OK with what is, kinda-sort-of-accepting what is, it's about loving what is and if we don't feel that way our work isn't done yet. Is there still stuff there about your step-grandfather? Do you love what he did? And I'm going to write out thoughts about my family today - there is stuff there for me to look at. Who hasn't got stuff with their family?! Onwards and upwards :-) With love, Jon
Guest guest
Are you a slavedriver :-) It feels as if there is still work to be done, but for now I am taking a break! And yes, aren't our families put there specially to give us plenty of opportunity to look at our beliefs? > > I'm just reflecting on your earlier posts, about being OK with your > family and having forgiven them - I've heard say that the work > isn't about being OK with what is, kinda-sort-of-accepting what is, > it's about loving what is and if we don't feel that way our work isn't > done yet.
