Guest guest
Hi everybody, As we've been talking about Nietzsche, I thought I would share a painting. I studied the Nietzsche Seminars with a Jungian analyst and in that text found one of my paintings described by Niet in his idea " the lake of my home " . Jung wrote that the " lake of my home " is a symbol for the personal unconscious, the land of the shadow. It is one's own personal body of water as opposed to the great water, the collective unconscious. In the painting my feminine consciousness is symbolized by the moon. The moon seems to be slowly and fearfully entering the lake of the personal unc as it begins its downward journey in search of wholeness. The area above the lake is my father's farm, the place I am coming from - my consciousness. And on the very bottom is the great abyss, the collective unconscious. Of course, when I painted it I just painted what popped into my mind and didn't think of the meaning. Later I looked at the work from a Jungian perspective to try to understand it. Finally I found Nietzsche's idea and thought the unc had expressed it beautifully in the painting so I gave it the name " Lake of My Home " .
