Guest guest
Lynn, Try swimming. I have been able to swim when I can't tolerate any other type of exercise. Shy to the point that people thought he was a snob. Far from the truth. We do have some interaction with dog people and of coarse Mikes fishing pals. But things have progressively slowed down. This am Mike was to fo to PA about dog related business. He was to drive and meet our daughter and soon to be son-in-law Chris. I told him it was silly to drive himself when in fact his daughter could come pass our home on the way to PA. It worked out fine...be he was so tired when he arrived home. This is a first...he actually went and laid down for about and hour or so. Retirement, yes we have some but I'm not at all certain its enough to live on. We'll see. Actually we're in the process of refinancing our home to pay off credit card debts and school loans. So who knows in the next few years may be we can put a dent in the principle of our new mortgage. I'm hopeing that in the next year or so we could sell this home and purchase anotherone with just a little land. Maybe 3-4 acres. However we will have to stay within a certain physical peramentor because of his health insurance--HMO. I really don't know if this is at all possible. Do you know of any effortless exercise Mike could do to help build up his muscle tone. Between this disease and knee and back surgery he feels weak. Have fun this weekend .. Guest guest
Square Dancing has been a God send to me. It took my friend, one of the very few I had in the first few years I came out here three years to get me into it. I used to be shy and like Mike, often mistaken for being snobish. Being on and off single and square dancing has gotten me away from that. The first time I was married when I was young a real long time ago, I wouldn't even call to order a pizza cause I didn't know the person on the other end, can you believe it. My mom and dad also square danced even though my dad wasn't very social. It's such an easy way to meet people. It isn't very hard and is a wonderful way to exercise because its mainly walking to music and people that can hardly walk do it. Your kids are grown, you guys should try it. Russ does contra dancing and that is even slower paced and I feel easier. It sounds like you need some people interaction. With this disease you really need support from others or you'll go nuts. I have problems with my knees and back and find square dancing okay. Round dancing (couples dancing to cues) is more strenuous to the joints. I wear my knee brace, or arm brace or what ever and when people ask I just say " that's the part of my body that wants to hurt this week " . Phil is having a little problem with people grabbing on to his hands to hard. He's had a lot of pain in them but then he's been using them so much. He owned a safe company and programmed locks for many years and he gets a lot of pain in them. He says they are feeling better now that he's done with the house. If we didn't have the square dancing and the friends we've met there and at church I know I would not be making it through this. When you are dancing you can't be thinking of how bad you feel. There are clubs everywhere. Why don't you guys try it. End of lecture. Hope you can fulfill your dream of the house with land. I'm not an animal person. Phil loves cats. I'm allergic to them and this new place doesn't have a place for one but we enjoy our friends cat especially when we go in their motor home with them. Where did you say you live again? Well I've sure rambled on enough. Have a nice weekend. Peg Vizas wrote: > Peg:It sounds as though you and Phil lead a very social life. This is > really great and I envy you.
