Guest guest Posted January 19, 2008 Report Share Posted January 19, 2008 I live in Arkansas.I became disabled twenty years a go.I was told after i filed for disability that if my husband makes 800.00 dollars a month i cannot get ssd.Can any one help me. Guest guest Posted January 20, 2008 Report Share Posted January 20, 2008 Hi When you filed for SSDI did you get a notice saying you were denied and/or approved? If you haven't filed for SSDI, I would. If you're not able to work because of a disability, then you are entitled to SSDI. Social Security has a phamphlet that you can read that talks about SSDI. To my knowledge there are no household income guidelines. You yourself just have to be disabled and not able to work 40 hrs a week at a regular job. Contact your local SS office or visit their website for more info. Guest guest Posted January 20, 2008 Report Share Posted January 20, 2008 , Unfortunately this is true if you've not worked 60 consecutive months in the recent past, as it doesn't seem that you have The reason is, since you haven't worked and paid in, you would only qualify for SSI instead of SSDI, which is kind of a " welfare SS " . And I'm not sure of the cut off limit of household income that could make you exempt from getting SSI. You would have to call your SS office or call them at 1- M-F 7a-7p. They would be able to tell you what the income limits of the household are before you waste your time filing for SSI. Good luck and I hope I was able to help you in some small way. I did visit www.ssa.gov to see if they had the income limits on their site and didn't see it. Maybe I missed it. But call them Tuesday, Monday is a holiday as you probably know.
