Guest guest
My neurologist said there are two types of neurogenic bladder, flaccid and spastic. Flaccid bladder is a floppy bladder, no muscle tone, no feeling, no ability to go. Spastic bladder is kind of self-explanatory. Mine is flaccid. I can't feel when I have to go, no muscle moves when my bladder is full. My bladder got way fuller before the urologist stopped. The first urologist put the equivalent of three 12 oz cans of soda into my bladder, or more than 1000 cc. I can easily fill up 800 cc container now if I forget to go to the bathroom. Easily. I never feel like I have to go, and I never actually can go without great strain, which is why I cath. I have to remember the language, and I'm betting can help me with this. Nerves have a top and a bottom - flaccid bladder means bottom damage, spastic bladder means top damage. Does that sound right, ? It was 8 years ago, so I'm just forgetting the proper terms. --- Amy wrote: > I have had this test done and so have both of my > children. Guest guest
, I wonder if there can be some hybrid of the two? I was told I have a floppy (flacicd) bladder. I have held up to 1800 cc's on one occassion. Around then, my average max would range from 1000-1200 cc Now that I have been cathing regularly, it has gotten much better and my max is down to about 600-700cc before it just can't hold anymore and the sphincter opens up and releases on its own. But, I also have spasms. After my paralysis, I always had the feeling that I kind of had to go. Granted I could tell the difference between this feeling and the real feeling that I had to go, but it sure was annoying and I would always worry about leaking. Welcome Ditropan, which solved the problem. So, I guess there has to be some kind of combination of the two -- or what is wrong with me? mutant bladder? LOL It wouldn't surprise me one bit.
