Guest guest
Sierra, I wish you the best of luck. The business I was employed at for 11 years sold out to another man. He had NO sympathy for me what so ever. I am a florist, with 30 years experience and was the manager and head designer. The new owner knew nothing about the business when he purchased it. I taught him everything. When he would come in sometimes, I would be in so much pain I would literally be holding on to the table. He said nothing. I worked sometimes up to 15, 16 hours a day. He would never get me any help and it was killing me. A place like Target with so many employees, should work with you. In my opinion I would ask for a part time job and tell them my situation. That way they just wouldn’t think you were slacking on the job. I really wish you all the luck in the world. I know what it is like to need money. I’ve been off since jan. and its sooo rough. especially with a child in the house. I’ll be thinking of you and pray you do find a job. Hi Sierra You might try looking at a temp agency, where you can chose your assignments. You will have better control, over picking ones, where you can sit more. An employer, is only expected to make reasonable accommodations. These are things like a split keyboard, or a better chair. There should be a place on your job forms, after you are hired, that asks about any reasonable accommodations you might need. You might need to ask if there is a position, where you can be off your feet frequently. Sometimes, the person who runs the changing room sits down. Your Health and Human Services, for your state, might provide vocational training for you. See if you qualify, to learn how to do a different kind of job. Unfortunately, there are very few jobs that let a person sit occasionally, at Department Stores.
