Guest guest
I just had to share the wonderful news of my fantasy birthday trip. I was picked up first by one of my friends and we went to pick up three other of my close friends and head out of Rocky Mount. sadly to say we did not stop at the local car wash to start the trip off with a bang. Along the way we stopped at a wonderful wholesale shoe outlet open to the public only on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. This is a girl thing guys so you would not understand when we all came out of there with at least 5 new pairs of shoes 2 or 3 of these from each of our bags included black shoes. I am the next Imedla Marcos. We finally get to our destination which is the Embassy Suite in Raleigh which is only about an hour from Rocky Mount. We have two room and set out to primp up a little bit in time to hit the free happy hour at the hotel before dinner. During the happy hour one of my friends who has been designated the driver for the evening is not drinking, but I notice that she says why don't we get a drink in a plastic cup to go and she says at this point that she will have one too. I thought this was kind of strange as she is so funny about drinking and driving. We walk outside and there is this limo the size of an 18 wheeler waiting for us. I step inside and realize that the darn thing seats 12 people. There is crystal glasses that we now transfer our drinks to go and now I understand why my usually non-drinking and driving friend has ordered a drink. We end up at a restaurant called the Melting Pot which is a fondue place. After a meal that lasts three hours and we are all treated like queens we head out in our limo again for an after dinner drink at another location. By this time our limo driver is our buddy and we are driving all over the place and just pretending this is a normal part of our life. We head to the hotel to finally go to bed and say we will meet at 9 am to start the next part of my fantasy trip. I go down in the elevator and who is standing there waiting for me but my best friend from high school who they had tried to get to come up Friday and she had another obligation with her child that she was unable to change. Today was spent shopping and adding to a list that we started of what women could do once they hit forty. We have one other close friend that was not able to join us this weekend who will turn 40 December 24th. We thought we would do something similar for her but it was a hoot to read the list me made and what type of things that we had added to it as the night went on and the drinks had set in. I will never forget what a wonderful gift I was given-first to have the halo off, be on the road to healing, and sharing a very special birthday with friends that have shared so much of my agony and now my joy. One special thing that was on our list was that we realized when we are 40 what treasures our friends become and for this I thank God. I am still in seventh heaven and will remember this trip for ever.
