You just mentioned in a post about your docs not wanting to check

your blood potassium all the time if they put you on an ACE

inhibitor. Am I supposed to be getting my blood checked every so

often on Diovan? I never have had any bloodwork done to check

anything regarding how a mediciation is reacting in my body. But

then again, I've been on the Diovan for about 2+ years, and haven't

seen a neph in that length of time either.

Hi Teri. I was referring to late 80's, early 90's. I think there was more

concern about the potassium problem then, since ACE inhibitors were still

fairly new. No, the blood work your nephrologist orders on or before each

visit is more than enough - but if you don't see one, that's another matter.

I would say a couple of times a year, if the kidney disease is mild. Your

primary care physician should be on top of that. One they know it isn't

moving much, even once a year might be enough.

Well, no-one mentioned it to me either, but seeing as we are still

experimenting I will give them some lee way!
