Guest guest
Is there any body part left that your journey with Jim has left out?? Every time I think your journey and extraordinary caring couldn't get any more amazing, all I have to do is wait for the next post or two! You go girl! I was going to do a quick post that I had a gut feeling that Jim's gash may have been self-inflicted, but Adrienne beat me to it. (At least now you know why Jim was reluctant to transfer to the passenger's seat of your car to go home the past two weekends.) My dad (LBD, died 4-21-05 at age 90) also was doing a lot of self stimulating behavior his last few months, but I had chalked it up to the increased libido and sexually inappropriate behavior often caused by the sinamet and other meds for the PD symptoms. (He even propositioned Barb!) Here's another tidbit that is probably only passed on by word of mouth. The home hospice nurse who was my mom's primary nurse warned us in mid-March to not be surprised or embarrassed if mom started masturbating in front of us. As if right on cue, she also started self stimulating behavior and she died within two weeks on 3-30-07, also at age 90. As caregivers we talk about almost everything. I don't know if the masturbation subject has come up before, because I haven't had the time to read or post for quite a while. I'm sure if we have covered it, will find a link for it! (Great job by the way on the database, files and links - what a gift and legacy you have provided for this group and for all of the caregivers thirsting for info! There is life after caregiving, and it's time to be still and nurture yourself as well as your hubby and the folks who are part of your life now!)
